Maa Skandamata, whose name translates to "Mother of Skanda," is depicted with four arms, holding her divine son Kartikeya (also known as Skanda) in one arm while the other hands carry lotus flowers and are often shown in a gesture of blessing (Abhaya Mudra).

She is portrayed riding a lion and is known for her radiant white complexion, symbolizing purity and peace.


On this day, the color associated with Maa Skandamata is Yellow, representing joy, brightness, and positivity.

Recipe for the Day: Banana Halwa (Kela Halwa)

Ingredients:
- 4 ripe bananas (preferably overripe)
- 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
- 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- A handful of chopped nuts (cashews, almonds)
- A handful of raisins

Instructions:

1. Preparation:
- Peel the ripe bananas and mash them well in a bowl until smooth.

2. Cooking the Halwa:
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ghee over medium heat.
- Add the mashed bananas to the pan and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they are well combined with ghee.

3. Sweetening:
- Add sugar to the banana mixture and mix well until it melts.
- Pour in the milk and continue to cook while stirring frequently until the mixture thickens (about 10-15 minutes).

4. Flavoring:
- Stir in cardamom powder and mix thoroughly.
- Add chopped nuts and raisins for added texture and flavor.

5. Finishing Touches:
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined.
- Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly before serving.

6. Serving:
- Serve warm as prasad during your puja or enjoy it as a festive dessert!
