Festive Delight: Quick and Easy Farali Dhokla Recipe for Navratri

Ingredients:

For the Dhokla Batter:

  • 1 Cup Samo (Samvat rice) flour
  • 1/2 Cup Singhara (Water Chestnut) flour
  • 1/2 Cup Curd (whisked)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ginger-Green Chili Paste
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Eno fruit salt
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as needed

For Tempering:

  • 2 Tablespoons Ghee
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • A handful of Curry leaves
  • 2 Green chilies (slit)
  • Chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine samo flour, singhara flour, whisked curd, ginger-green chili paste, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water to make a smooth, lump-free batter with a pouring consistency.
  3. Grease the dhokla steamer tray with a bit of ghee.
  4. Just before steaming, add Eno fruit salt to the batter and mix gently.
  5. Pour the batter into the steamer tray and steam for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Heat ghee in a small pan.
  7. Add cumin seeds, slit green chilies, and curry leaves.
  8. Let them splutter, creating a fragrant tempering.
  9. Once the dhokla is steamed, allow it to cool for a few minutes.
  10. Cut it into square or diamond-shaped pieces.
  11. Pour the prepared tempering over the dhokla pieces.
  12. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  13. Your Navratri Special Farali Dhokla is ready to be served!
  14. Enjoy it with a side of Farali chutney or plain yogurt.
